A:Yes, it should. I found though, if you swap the drive, you need to disconnect the reader from the cable and plug it back in to read the new drive.

Q:Can this be used to clone a samsung 970 evo plus 1 tb nvme ssd installed inside a windows 10 nuc to a 2tb samsung 980 pro

A1:If your NUC has USB C or Thunderbolt out Yes you can, however you will need cloning software, it doesn't come with any.

A2:you will need a program like Aomei Backupper ot Macrium Reflect to transfer your files. Both are freee, so no need to spent more money. Personally I use Macrium Reflect.Select disk to clone and follow instructions Very easy.This will clone your original drive to the new one.Remove original drive from laptop and replace it with the new one.You will be able now to boot from the new drive.Take the old drive and wipe all partitions and data. You now have a spare drive to use.
