Description: For years, Patchouli Essential Oil was recognized for its sweet aroma and was used as an incense and base in making perfumes. But beyond the unique scent is a great wealth of benefits that can heal the body and cleanse the soul. Besides its versatility, the best thing about Patchouli Oil is that, unlike most essential oils that oxidize and lose their aromatic and therapeutic strength over time, Patchouli Oil improves as it ages, just like fine wine. Aromas of a certain distillation which were unpleasant to a customer at first can, with time, come to be loved. This is a quality product oil unlike other Patchouli oil found on various e-commerce sites including this market place. Thus far, we have sold countless bottles of Patchouli Dark; unfortunately not all contended buyers leave product feedback.
Year of distillation: 2017 Alcohol Content: 31.2%
Myths debunked:
Myth 1: Your Patchouli Dark is not as dark as what I had once upon a time or from another seller.
Fact: The color of Patchouli oil is dependent on how the oil is extracted. Patchouli extracted in steel containers using steam distillation results in lighter color compared to that distilled in cast iron containers which results in deep amber color.
Myth 2: Patchouli oil is always thick.
Fact: The thickness (viscosity) of Patchouli oil is dependent on how long it is aged for. Repeated opening of the container and drum results in aging of the oil due to oxygen entry making it thicker over a period of time. Our oil is not as thick because it's not aged or over exposed to oxygen. The viscosity meter of this oil in the same drum every 3-4 years will increase approximately by 1 unit.
Myth 3: Darker Patchouli Oil has higher patchouli alcohol content.
Fact: No, darker oil does not equate to higher level of alcohol. Our oil has 31.2% alcohol which is pretty close to the highest level one can get of 34% alcohol level. 34% patchouli alcohol can cost 1,5-2 times than regular patchouli dark oil. Regular patchouli dark oil's patchouli alcohol level is between 27% and 31%.
Myth 4: All Patchouli Dark oils have the same aroma.
Fact: Its a known fact that we can't compare apples to oranges. Similarly, one cannot compare Patchouli dark oils with any other Patchouli dark oils. The year of distillation, methods used (containers), oxidation levels, all contribute to the aroma of Patchouli. For a fair comparison, one must consider these factors. Aged (vintage) Patchouli will be darker, thicker and will have stronger aroma, however vintage patchouli oil will also be expensive due to its characteristics.
Myth 5: Patchouli Dark oil is smoky.
Fact: Patchouli by nature is earthy and not smoky unless mixed with other oils. Vetiver from Indonesia emits smoky aroma but not Patchouli.
Myth 6: I can't smell anything
Fact: Recommend smelling coffee beans before smelling this oil to prevent olfactory fatigue. It's also recommended not to smell from the container, one should use caps or container plugs to smell any essential oil.
