Everyone has the right to a decent quality of life and we work to make this a reality in the communities from which we source our materials. Our programmes empower women, enable better access to water and sanitation, and improve livelihoods in the communities in our supply chain.

Lalita's Story

Lalita lives in Assam, India, she works as a tea plucker. Many of the families living on tea gardens lack access to basic services, such as clean water and adequate sanitation facilities. Twinings works with producers and not-for profit organisations to construct toilets for families on the tea gardens, so people like Lalita can have the privacy they rightfully deserve.

“With support from this project, we have been able to construct a new toilet and a bathroom unit. My daughter and I are much happier, and we can now take a bath inside a secure bathroom of our own.”
