Tiny Tip Covers The tiny tip on the Closer to Nature Digital Thermometer is ideal for newborns, but is also suitable for the whole family. Use hygiene covers to protect the tiny tip of our Closer to Nature Digital Ear Thermometer and help avoid any spread of infection without affecting the accuracy of the reading.	Using your Closer to Nature Digital Thermometer You can get incorrect readings (around 35.6°F lower) if the ear canal is not straightened correctly. As the ear canal is not identical in each ear, you can get different readings. It is important to straighten the ear canal before taking a reading. For children under 2 years old, gently pull the ear back. Instructions for use advise taking three readings and taking note of the highest one registered. The digital ear thermometer measures the infrared heat generated by the eardrum.	Troubleshooting tips - Use a fresh hygiene cover each time - Ensure that the ear canal is clean - Make sure that the thermometer lens is clean and undamaged - Calibrate the thermometer to the temperature of the room before taking a reading - If you press the on/mem button instead of the scan button you will see the previous reading from the memory, rather than take a new reading - You will record a higher temperature if your child has been lying on their ear on one side.
