You don't have to forego anything during your period! We recommend that you use a fresh sponge before and after sex. (In any case after, because seminal fluid gets caught in it). If you can't find the sponge afterwards - No panic! Relax and follow our tips for removing it. Surely your partner is ready to help as well.

Prepare

Since the sponge is a natural product, it is not sterile. That's why you should put the sponges in a 2:1 mixture of water and vinegar for 6 hours before using them for the first time. This will kill any germs.

Then simply rinse with cold water until the vinegar smell is gone.

If you are not going to use the sponge right away, dry it in an airy but clean place. Then it can join the other sponges in the jute bag.

Insert

1. First wash your hands thoroughly and wet the sponge with lukewarm water (squeeze well!). Sit or lie down and relax!

2. Now you can insert the wet sponge like a normal tampon with your index finger diagonally upwards. Either let the retraction ribbon hang out or place it so far forward that you can easily grab it.

The sponge will be in place when you can no longer feel it. If it is uncomfortable, move it back and forth a little or insert it deeper.

Remove

Depending on the size of the sponge and the intensity of your bleeding, you should change or wash out the sponge every 3 to 6 hours max.

1. Wash your hands and relax before removing the sponge.

2. Now tense your pelvic floor muscles, so the sponge slides towards the v.aginal entrance. Now you can easily pull it out with your index finger. Once you have grasped the ligament, you can simply pull the sponge out like a tampon.

Clean

If you want to reuse the sponge immediately:

Rinse it thoroughly with lukewarm water. Squeeze out all the water and reinsert it.

If you don't use the sponge anymore because your period is over (hooray!):

Put your sponge back in a water-vinegar mixture for at least 6 hours to kill germs and bacteria. Then rinse the sponge with cold water until the vinegar smell is gone. Squeeze well and let it dry in a clean place before putting it back into the bag until the next bleeding.
