Difference Between SA155 and SA156

A bobbin's diameter and height are called its style. Each sewing machine brand and model uses a particular bobbin style and will not work with other bobbin styles.

SA155 or the L style or Size L is 13/16 inch (20mm) in diameter (approximately the size of a nickel) and 5/16 inch (9mm) high. It's top and bottom, called the flanges, are flat. Most industrial sewing machines use this type of bobbin. This type is the most common embroidery bobbin for home and commercial sewing machines.
SA156 - also known as Class 15, A style, or Size A has the same diameter and flat flanges but is taller at 7/16 inch (12mm) high. If your sewing machine makes computerized embroidery, it probably uses this type of bobbin.
