The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol that is associated with protection and good health and is even said to have royal powers. It is also called the wedjat eye or udjat eye. Horus was an ancient Egyptian sky god, often depicted as a falcon although the eye is also said to be associated with the sun god, Ra. Their two symbols are closely related. It is said that Set (another Egyptian god) tore out Horus's eye and that Thoth subsequently returned the eye to Horus and that Horus then used the returned eye to sustain his father Osiris in the afterlife (the exact details are murky). In Greek and Roman times, it was thought that an evil heart could get to your eyes, hence the idea of needing protection against being on the receiving end of an evil eye treatment. Maybe you know people who look as though they could still hand out that kind of treatment, in which case this bracelet could be just the thing you need. It comes in a silver colour and is made from a strong but lightweight metal alloy. The eye of Horus itself is about 20mm diameter and is encased in a glass dome. The bracelet itself is approximately 16cm plus an extra 5cm chain that allows you to adjust it for your wrist size. In total, it weighs about 15 grams so it won't feel heavy when you wear it. It makes a fantastic present - whether it's for a birthday, a gift or a costume party.
