With this powdered gravy mix and some water, you can create 17 gallons of beautifully balanced au jus with the ideal consistency. Make small batches as needed throughout the night, or prepare for the rush by making a large batch to have on hand. Use au jus mix to add flavor to prime rib, French dip, sandwiches and sauteed vegetables. Make a traditional hot beef on weck, or use it in a seasoning mix for burgers and meat rubs for a new twist on a classic dish that everyone will love. No one will ever guess your au jus comes from a pre-mixed seasoning base. This gravy mix is simple to prepare. Combine 1 ounce of Spice Classics Au Jus Mix with 3 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil, and you'll have a dozen 1/4-cup servings ready to serve. If you plan to cook in bulk, combine 12 ounces of gravy mix with 2 1/4 gallons of water for 144 servings. You might also choose to use the au jus seasoning mix to flavor food while cooking instead of as a gravy on the side. In this case, use 1 ounce of the mix for every 1 1/2 pints of liquid. Bring the base to a boil and use it to cook vegetables and meats with a bit of extra flavor. Use the mix to make French onion soup with butter, onions, cheese, bread and water. On medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a large pan. Add three thinly sliced, medium-sized onions and stir the mixture for 20 minutes. Add gravy mix and 3 cups of water and bring to a boil. Next, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve the soup garnished with Swiss cheese crusty bread. The recipe makes four servings.
