Discussion: Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable in the brassica family. Broccoli contains a unique class of phytochemicals known as glucosinolates, including glucoraphanin. When broccoli is consumed, chewing breaks down the glucoraphanin with the support of an enzyme called myrosinase.
