Why Ceramic BladesHardness & Sharpness.

On the Mohs hardness scale, Metal blades are rated 5.5 vs. Ceramic blades at 8.2, second only to diamonds. Harder edges maintain sharpness longer, cut better, and require replacement far less frequently. In fact, depending on use, you can go weeks or months without having to replace a single ceramic blade. They also last up to 10x longer!

A single Slice ceramic blade is equivalent up to 10 high-end double-sided metal blades or up to 20 high-end single sided metal blades. In terms of safety, less blade changes also mean less risk of injury.


10536 Round Blade The 10536 blade, in addition to its safer cutting edge, has a rounded tip to guard against accidental punctures. It glides smoothly between stitches and cuts without tugging at the surrounding fabric.	Ergonomic and Compatible Handles Slice 10536 and 10537 blades were designed for the 10596 (manual retraction) and 10597 (automatic retraction) seam ripper models, but they also fit in several craft handles, allowing you to choose the best combination for your needs. Our seam ripper blades are compatible with both our craft knife models (10548 and 10589), our replaceable-blade scalpel (10568), and the shorter Precision Knife, with its unique handle (10580).	10537 Pointed Tip Blade The 10537 blade has a pointed tip to slip into very small stitches. It glides smoothly between stitches and cuts without tugging at the surrounding fabric.

What makes your product special

Our proprietary blade manufacturing process combines a unique sharpening angle and thicker ceramic material, resulting in a very unique patented blade that's safer to the touch vs. metal, and requires pressure to initiate the cut — via our handles. Hence, general blade handling and blade-replacement with Slice ceramic blades is infinitely safer vs. those same activities with traditional metal blades, yet still allows for a wide range of cutting applications.

What has been the best part of your experience

You can't simply duplicate a metal blade in ceramic material and achieve what we have created with our current products. There's a tremendous amount of engineering required on not only the blades and handles individually, but there's also an incredible amount of engineering required on the combination of the handles and the blades working together in order to produce the desired balance of safer-usage and cutting capability. Even today, for our next generation of products that are currently under development, we spend the majority of our time finding the right balance between handle and blade through trial and error and what seems like endless prototypes. The best part definitely has to be seeing peoples first-time reactions when cutting cardboard with Slice and they realize how awesome the Slice ceramic blade is.

The Slice 10537 Seam Ripper Blades (Pointed Tip) offer an exceptionally narrow tip that slides easily into the space between very small stitches. Because of their smooth construction, they catch and cut thread without the tugging that could result in damage to the surrounding fabric. The 10537 blade is ideal for picking the first stitches in a seam or other detailed work requiring a point, such as weeding vinyl in the sign industry. As with all Slice blades, the edge features our proprietary finger-friendly grind that cuts effectively and is safe to the touch. The 10537 blades are compatible with both the 10596 and 10597 seam ripper handles, as well as both craft knife handles, the Precision Knife, and the 10568 scalpel handle.

Smooth blade easily slides between very small stitches. To guard against accidental punctures and for larger stitches, try the rounded-tip version, 10536. Sturdy advanced ceramic blade easily cuts through thread without tugging at the surrounding fabric, even when it’s delicate fabric. 10537 blade fits in different handles made by Slice. These include seam rippers, craft cutters and the Precision Knife. Choose the handle that fits your needs. All are ambidextrous and ergonomic. Other blades are dangerously sharp.
