How to Choose Your Wheels


Street Skate Light weight wheels make the board easier to lift and control. These wheels are Intended for street style tricks at the parks on smooth surfaces. 100A means they are rock hard, so they will slide and grind well. These wheels are not good for pavement as they will vibrate.	Park Skate A balance between lightweight and momentum is what you want for ramps and bowls. They pop for tricks and will also keep you going. 100A hardness means they are rock hard so they will slide and grind well. These wheels are not good for pavement as they will vibrate.	Vert Skate Bigger, thicker wheels, carry more momentum and speed. They are great for vert ramps, big halfpipes and carving deep bowls. 100A hardness means they are rock hard so they will slide and grind well. These wheels are not good for pavement as they will vibrate.	Road Skate Soft wheels will absorb the roughness of the road when going from A to B. Larger wheels will carry more momentum. Great as starter wheels or as a secondary set for riding around town. Soft wheels are not good for grinding or sliding as they will grab and stick. These wheels are smooth and quiet.

Bam Jam Brand Story

When I first started skateboarding, I chose a board and wheels based on their looks. That set up did NOT suit my riding preferences. I fell a lot, and gave up. Then I bought a cruiser board. It was so much easier to ride on the pavement so I learned to ride finally and got better at it. I realized it is all about personal preference, designing the board set up to match your style, with a board width to match your height.

I started skateboarding at the skatepark 6 if not 7 days a week, using hard wheels. It would get me out of my head and into my body. It kept me in the present, and kept me focused. The skatepark is where I developed my intuition and the ability to feel the energy. There is an energy when someone is going to go or when no one is going to go.

At Bam Jam, I want people to have the right gear and provide different wheel setups for different riding situations. To ride fast, you want larger wheels. For doing tricks, you want them as small as you can tolerate.
