Shires Bevel Bit With Jointed Mouth. With a snaffle mouth, the loose ring bevel allows for a gentle lever action. The snaffle mouth squeezes the tongue by applying pressure to the bars. The ring size grows from size 5 onwards to keep the bit in proportion for larger horses. Thickness of the mouthpiece: 12mm (4), 14mm (4.5 - 6). Height of the cheeks: 55mm (4, 4.5, 5), 70mm (5.5). The most frequent material for bits is stainless steel. It is long-lasting, easy to clean, odourless, and does not rust.
