The RipFix Story

It has a great back story…RipFix has been in my family for three generations. It was concocted in my grandmother's kitchen and passed down to my mother, then to me. Growing up, my siblings and I called it “Miracle Cream,” and we depended on it for almost everything- dry, cracked lips and heels, rashes, scrapes, burns, and even zits! As a gymnast who never wore grips, RipFix was an essential in my gym bag because it worked amazingly on hand rips. My Mom made it for gymnasts and baseball players in our hometown of Toronto and I’ve known since my 20’s that I was supposed to market our family recipe to the masses, I just didn’t know where or how until I started CF Functional Fitness!!! My business partner and I started selling RipFix to athletes locally to our Functional Fitness community and we received rave reviews and requests for more product. Thanks to the encouragement of my community, we now have RipFix vendors all across the globe.

While working at events, we have discovered that a lot of athletes do not know how to care for their hands, and men are especially skeptical about treating their calluses. We were sponsors at an event one weekend where a competitor ripped so bad it was a bloody, ugly, gnarly mess with about a 1/4 inch of skin ripped off. I told him he had RipFix in his gift bag, he said “No way it will work on this," to which I replied “Just try it, it’s free." He contacted me two days later and said “You win, it works. I did pull ups today, I owe you!” I love stories like that and we have received so many!

For some athletes, rips are a right of passage; a warrior wound, a sign that you have worked hard to meet and exceed your goals. But that gets old quick, especially when your daily workouts are negatively affected by a hand that is not healthy enough to grip a bar. When you build up those hard mounds of flesh (known as calluses) and then add friction, they have nowhere to go but to tear off and cause painful rips. If you take a little bit of time every night to pumice the calluses down and apply RipFix your hands, they will become more yielding to the hard work and strain that a workout like Fran or Helen doles out on your palms - RipFix not only mends a rip, it is a great preventative tool.
