How did we get our start?

Culver City. 1979. At three years old I saw my parents, filled with nostalgia for their childhood home in India, open a International Grocery Store, the first one of its kind in a small suburb of Los Angeles. I grew up in that shop.

Why do we love what we do?

I look back at that time and I feel the love, understanding and passion for the spices, food and each other that they had that makes our brand what it is today. Our ghee is not a mass produced product, it has texture and character of a crafted product. Its also grainy & characteristic of Butter Oil (as it should be). If you are looking for a completely uniformed, mass produced product, this is not for you.

Method (Instructions)

In a medium sauce pan sauté farina and ghee for 7-10min. stir frequently. Add in water, sugar, raisins and almonds. Continually stir until water is absorbed by farina (2-5min.). Dish many be served hot or cold. When Halwa cools, it solidifies and can be cut into bite size pieces.
