Our Castor Oil is cold pressed to produce the highest quality natural oil. It is 100% Pure, Hexane and Ricin free. Pearl Castor Oil is packed full of essential fatty acids, required to maintain healthy skin. It contains Linoleic Omega 6 and Oleic Omega 9 fatty acids. Our high standard oil is an exceptional all round treatment for eyelashes, eyebrows, nails, cuticles and skin, helping to nourish, revitalise and revive. Castor oil is nourishing and conditioning for naturally beautiful, shiny, and replenished hair helping to both hydrate and nourish.

Massage Perfect for use as a massage oil when either combined with another carrier oil, such as our Organic Virgin Coconut oil, or even blended with one of our essential oils. What type of plastic is safe for carrier oils?

Whilst several types of plastics are available, depending on the material used to create them, only two plastic types are considered safe for essential oils – PET and HDPE. Our 100ml, 250ml and 500ml bottles are made from PET plastic. Our 1, 2 and 5 litre containers are made from HDPE plastic. Other types of plastics react with the compounds present in carrier and essential oils and degrade them to form toxic compounds.

What is PET and HDPE plastic?

1. PET

· Polyethylene terephthalate is a type of plastic that is commonly used to make soda or water bottles.

· It is safe for storing carrier and essential oils. It is considered safe for a single-use when storing food items.

· This type of plastic is commonly recycled to form new bottles or containers, textiles, and clothing.

· If you plan to use a PET bottle to store essential oil, check the bottom of the bottle for a ‘PET’ logo.

2. HDPE

· High-density polyethylene is another type of plastic that is considered safe for storing carrier and essential oils. It does not transfer any chemical to the items stored in it.

· HDPE plastics are commonly used in the food and cosmetic industry. Your cream and shampoo containers are usually made up of HDPE plastics.

· You can identify an HDPE plastic by locating the ‘HDPE’ logo on the bottom of the container.

PET or HDPE – which is better for storing carrier and essential oils?

Essentially, both types of plastic are perfectly suitable for storing carrier and essential oils.

· PET bottles do not have as high-temperature resistance as HDPE containers. While PET bottles have a maximum temperature resistance of 55 °C, HDPE containers have a maximum temperature resistance of 75 °C

· PET containers can handle cold temperatures of about – 40°C whilst HDPE containers can withstand temperatures up to -79°C.

· PET plastics are transparent, lightweight, and highly resistant to diluted acids, oils, and alcohols.

· HDPE is a high-density plastic that is stiff and has a good water vapor barrier. HDPE is known for its strength and durability and this is the reason that we offer bulk sizes of our product in this type of plastic. While they are not as clear as PET plastic, HDPE bottles and containers can be translucent so you can see your product inside the bottle.
