• In contrast to sweet chestnuts, raw horse chestnuts are actually not edible as they contain a toxic compound called esculin. In standardised horse chestnut seed extracts like ours this component has been removed.
• Traditional Chinese herbalists have used horse chestnut not only for treatment of circulatory problems, but also as an astringent, a diuretic, for the reduction of edema, to reduce inflammation, for respiratory problems, and to fight viral infections.
