Food to Live: Eat Well and Be Healthy

Food to Live is a company committed to making people healthier by providing them with delicious, healthy food. We established this business with a purpose of making a change that would take our world one step closer to being a better place for us and our children.

Food to Live delivers a variety of natural, organic and raw foods that can enable anyone to develop healthy eating habits. All our products can be included into a vegan diet.

Where Do Pistachios Come From

Pistachio nuts are distant relatives of cashews. They grow on smallish trees that resemble shrubs. California pistachios offered by Food To Live come from the best farmers of the sunny state.

These nuts soak up lots of sunlight and taste divine. They are rather large and highly nutritious. Our Organic Roasted and Salted pistachios don't contain any toxins or other harmful additives. At the organic Food To Live facility, we process them with utmost care and make sure that every pack is filled with good, delicious nuts.

Are Pistachios Nuts

As it often is with tree nuts, botanically, pistachios are classified as drupes, not nuts. They are kernels of a hard whitish fruit. Pista fruits look very much like grapes because they grow in small clusters.

This plant grows well only in dry, hot regions and requires a lot of sunlight and warmth as well as short mildly-cold winters. Pistachio trees take 8 years to mature before they start bearing fruits. Thus, starting a plantation isn't an easy task.

Organic Pistachios: Benefits

Pistachios are so good for you because they contain a great number of vitamins and minerals, including:

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin E
  • B vitamins
  • Vitamin C
  • Copper
  • Selenium
  • Manganese
  • Potassium
  • Zinc
  • Iron
  • Calcium
  • Magnesium
A single cup of pistachios gives you almost 13g of dietary fiber and 25g of proteins. Therefore, this snack is good for both vegans and bodybuilders, because these people require a higher intake of amino acids. Vegans and vegetarians should also consider snacking on pistachios regularly due to calcium and iron. Pistachio nuts contain both omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids.

Pistachio Flour in a Gluten-Free Diet

If you are on a gluten-free diet, you can expand your list of safe baking ingredients with pistachio flour. It will enhance the flavor of any baked goods and its green color adds some fun to cooking.

Pistachio flour, and all other types of nut flours as well, is completely gluten-free, as gluten is a protein that occurs only in some grains. If you buy pistachio flour from a company that offers wheat and other gluten foods as well, make sure that they can be trusted to keep their products clean.

You can make gluten-free pistachio flour yourself. To do this, blanch shelled nuts in boiling water for a few minutes. Then, rub harshly with a towel to remove skins. Next, 'dry' pistachios in an oven at 325F. This should take about 3-5 minutes if the nuts were originally raw.

How to Store Your Organic Pistachios from Food To Live

Pistachio nuts can go rancid because of the fats they contain, so it's imperative to keep them dry. In order to extend their shelf life, store the nuts in the fridge. Always keep them in an airtight container and away from sunlight and heat.

Pistachios Recipes: Salads, Cakes, Snacks, Milk, and Butter

California pistachios are so delicious it might be hard to think of them as something other than a snack. However, they can find many uses in your kitchen. First of all, you definitely should try adding them to your salads. Shelled roasted pistachios will be pleasantly crunchy and complement the already high nutritional value of the dish. Their flavor mixes well with all vegetables, so you can include them in any salad recipe.

Easy Vegan Pistachio Butter Recipe

Pistachio butter is delicious, nutritious, and most of all easy to make. It will keep for about 2 weeks in the fridge if you sup it into a container with a tight lid. It's a fantastic addition to vegan sandwiches and actually tastes so good, you can use it as a dip for veggies.

This recipe is very simple and will work perfectly with Food To Live Organic Pistachios.
Ingredients:

  • 2 cups pistachios (shelled)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Salt to taste
Instructions:
  1. Put pistachios onto a baking sheet and heat them up for 1-2 minutes in an oven. Set the temperature at 350F.
  2. Process pistachios in a food processor or blender while they are still hot. Keep the appliance running for 10 minutes before adding spices and honey. You can include any other herbs to make the flavor suit your taste.
  3. Process for about 10 more minutes after adding the spices to provide a smooth and creamy texture of your pistachio butter. Taste and add more spices or salt if necessary.
  4. Let the butter cool completely before putting it in the fridge.
Plan your meals carefully when you include pistachio nuts into your diet as they are so delicious, it might be hard to stop when you start enjoying
