Intended Use: pH Rapid Test Device is the modern concept of protection for women A disturbance in the micro ecological balance in the vagina (e.g. dysbiosis) is often connected with an increase in the pH level. Vaginal pH levels that are higher than 4.5 can lead to many gynaecological complaints and compilations. Stay healthy through pregnancy with PH Rapid Test Device Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is diagnosed in approx. 15-20% of all pregnant women. It increases the risk of these: * Premature birth * Chorioamnionitis (amnionitis) * A premature rupturing of the fetal membrane * Fever when giving birth * Post-partum endometritis (an infection of the mucus membrane in the uterus after giving birth) * A bacterial infection of the foetus With the help of regular self-testing of the vaginal pH level, pregnant women can decrease the risk of infection. The measurement of the vaginal pH level is a fixed component of the program for avoiding premature birth according to Prof. E. Saling. Principle: The PH Rapid Test Device is a reliable, hygienic, pain-free method of determining the vaginal pH level. As soon as the pH measurement zone on the device comes into contact with vaginal secretion, a colour change occurs that can be assigned to a value on the colour scale. This value is the test result.

INTERPRETATION: Depending on the test results, you can assess whether a woman it is likely you have thrush, bacterial vaginosis, or neither. If the pH level is elevated (more alkaline), it may suggest bacterial vaginosis, while a decrease in pH level might indicate vaginal thrush. DIAGNOSTIC TEST: The test aims to detect changes in the vaginal pH level that are indicative of thrush or bacterial vaginosis. The test involves a swab that changes colour based on the pH of the vaginal secretions. By measuring the colour change, you can determine whether the pH level is within the normal range or has shifted towards alkalinity or acidity. BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS (BV): Bacterial vaginosis is characterized by an overgrowth of certain types of bacteria, disrupting the normal balance of vaginal flora. This condition can lead to an increase in the vaginal pH level, making it less acidic and more alkaline. THRUSH (VAGINAL CANDIDIASIS): In cases of vaginal thrush, there is an overgrowth of Candida fungus. This can lead to a decrease in the vaginal pH level, making it more alkaline or less acidic than usual. VAGINAL pH LEVEL: The normal vaginal pH level is slightly acidic, typically ranging from around 3.8 to 4.5. This acidic environment helps maintain a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria.
