ØNSK, in Danish, means "WISH". We picked this name because it reflects our mission to leave a positive impact on coffee farmers, customers and the nature. We particularly wish for coffee farmers to get fair wages for producing coffee.

ØNSK COFFEE
ØNSK was founded by Rasmus Ditlev and Andreas Kirk in 2017. Today, the team consists of 10 coffee lovers. We work closely together at our office in Copenhagen to provide a coffee that brings together coffee drinkers and coffee farmers.

ØNSK was founded in 2017 with a wish to make a positive impact in the coffee industry. The coffee industry lacks transparency: all too often, it's impossible to decipher where coffee comes from, how it's traded and the conditions under which it's cultivated.

We're doing things differently here at ØNSK. Through direct trade with coffee farmers, investing time and finance back into the production of coffee, and ensuring transparency in how we source and process our coffee.

Green coffee production

At ØNSK, we want to set a positive example in the industry through supporting a green coffee production. This means buying exclusively from organic farms and prioritizing coffee plantations which use shade trees to promote biodiversity. We also support farmers who strive for water-free coffee processing and optimize practices for water treatment and residual waste.

We will plant shade trees on coffee plantations as a means to directly reduce emissions in the coffee supply chain. Planting shade trees promotes more diverse agriculture and animal life and is an important step for us towards doing even better.

Our principles

We are constantly looking to minimize our use of resources. One way of doing so is to minimize our packaging consumption: our coffee is packaged in bags made out of cornstalk and our capsules plant-based and can go back into the nature.

At ØNSK, taking better care of our nature, is also about establishing and maintaining a direct trading relationship with our coffee farmers. In addition to ensuring that farmers are paid fairly for their work, we dedicate 1% of our revenue to green development projects at the farms where our coffee is cultivated.

The main way that we do this is through direct trading relationships with our farmers. We visit them, we keep in touch with them, and we tell their stories.
