What is White Rice Flour

A type of flour produced from grinding polished rice into a powder. White rice flour can be used as a thickening agent for sauces and puddings. It is also very popular for the preparation of a variety of Asian noodles. It is used in some baked goods, such as cakes, cookies, and dumplings. Bread and noodles made of rice flour have a sticky and chewy texture. Rice flour is finely milled rice used principally in baking or as a dusting powder in commercial scale baking operations. Starch is the most important fraction of this flour and is detrimental to its functionality in food systems such as baking, noodles, gravies, crackers and many others. Rice flour is produced from the Oryza sativa plant, an important cereal that forms the staple article of food of many Asian populations, mainly in China, India, Indonesia, and more recently in North America and parts of Africa and South America. White rice production involves dehulling and tempering prior to milling to remove its bran.

Blueberry Muffins Ingredients: 1 egg, 1/2 cup milk 2 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons canola oil 1 cup white rice flour 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon or lime zest 1/2 cup fresh blueberries Instructions: Combine white rice flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, lemon or lime zest. Carefully stir in blueberries. In a medium bowl, mix the egg, milk and canola oil until well blended. Add in the dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Pour into the prepared muffin tin, filling each well about 2/3 full. Sprinkle muffins with streusel topping. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the edges are slightly browned. Allow muffins to cool for 5 minutes before removing from the tin.	Rice Balls Sweet Ingredients: Rice flour - 1 cup. All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup. Salt - 1 pinch. Hot water - 1/2 cup. Ghee - 2 teaspoons. Cardamom powder - 1 pinch. Sugar - 1/2 cup. Instructions: Take a bowl, add rice flour, all-purpose flour, salt, medium hot water and make a dough. Place dough in between wet cloth and press it with hand or dust some flour and roll it into a Tortilla using a rolling pin. Place tortilla on hot tawa and cook it on both sides. Transfer to a plate and apply some ghee on top and make small pieces using hand and transfer to a blender. To it add cardamom powder, sugar and blend it into a coarse mixture. Transfer to a plate.	Fluffy Pancakes Ingredients: 1 Egg 130g Soy milk 40g Sugar 150g White rice flour 2 teaspoon baking powder 1 tablespoon Oil Instructions: Put egg, soy milk, sugar in a bowl and mix. Add rice flour, baking powder and mix until smooth. Add a little oil to a frying pan or griddle, pour the batter, and cook on medium heat until bubbles start popping over the surface (about 2 minutes). Flip and cook another 1 minute.
