Comfrey is the common name for the herb Symphytum. Symphus in latin means 'growing together of bones', while phyton means 'plant'. This has led to comfrey also being referred to in herbal texts as 'knitbone'.

The roots of the comfrey plant contain Allantoin and Rosemarinic Acid: These two compounds are credited with many of the suggested actions of comfrey.

Comfrey has been cultivated as a healing herb since at least 400BC. The Greeks and the Romans used it widely, both as a poultice and as a tea. Its use by Japanese herbalists also dates back over 2000 years.

Modern herbalism urges caution before using comfrey internally, however, it is still very popular as an external application.

All Natures Aid products are manufactured to the industry recognised GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standard which gives us complete control over the quality and effectiveness of our products and provides our customers with the highest quality products.

In our commitment to quality, we also go one step beyond and manufacture each of our products to Pharmaceutical standards.

Natures Aid do not test any of our products on animals and where possible all products are formulated suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Comfrey Oil is suitable for vegetarians.

Small changes in product size and weight lead to lower carbon emissions.

We created Compact by Design to identify products that, while they may not always look very different, have a more efficient design. With the removal of excess air and water, products require less packaging and become more efficient to dispatch. At scale, these small differences in product size and weight lead to significant carbon emission reductions.

Here are a few of the many ways products can qualify:

Less Packaging

Less air in container

More efficient shape
