The idea is to make your home as unappealing as possible to rodents, giving them no reason to invade. Thoroughly inspect and seal up any holes, cracks, crevices, or openings that mice may enter through. Fill in gaps located behind appliances, around utility lines, under porches, by windows, vents, and doors. Fill these in completely with steel wool or silicone caulk.

Mice rely heavily on their sense of smell and can easily find their way in for a meal. Remove any food sources that are sitting out. Try to package everything in sealed containers or glass jars.
