This is because Mellona’s traditional pomegranate syrup is produced in a way that is far away from the practices of mass production. Perfectly ripe pomegranates are hand harvested and transported to our workshop. There they are sorted. Only the juiciest will be milled for our pomegranate syrup production and the rest is forwarded to animal food producers. This takes place the same day so pomegranates are not piled and stay in the field for long hours or even days. Thus we only use fresh pomegranates and this is evident in the flavor and aroma of Mellona’s pure pomegranate syrup. The following day the juice is transferred in big pots over a very low fire. It is slowly boiled until the excess water is evaporated and the delicious natural pomegranate syrup is produced. We slowly boil for many hours in comparatively low temperatures so our syrup retains most of its nutrition value that would be lost if we tried to heat it up and produce it in less time as big producers do. Our pomegranate syrup is totally natural with no added sugar, and no artificial colours, flavourings, sweeteners or preservatives are ever used.
