The solution has a set amount of glucose in it to mimic blood. Apply a drop of glucose control solution to a test strip to get a reading. With just a drop of glucose control solution, run a quality control test the same way a blood sugar test is done. Perform a control test for a new vial of strips, if the glucose meter is dropped, or anytime results come into question. If the results fall within the range printed on the test strip vial, everything is working properly. If results are outside the normal range, contact a healthcare worker or the device manufacturer.
