Who was Ludovico MaresAnd how did you end up founding the company that bears his name

Son of an Austrian Navy officer, he was born in Pula, January 10, 1898. From a young age he has been dedicated to many sports, but he excels above all in hockey, diving and figure skating, which will see him stand out at the regional level and which will become one of his main activities as an instructor. His interest and propensity for innovation even led him to patent the famous roller skates with buffer steering.

At the end of World War II, he was forced to emigrate, like many other Istrian refugees. He then arrives in Rapallo and in the early days, to make ends meet, he began to teach figure skating. But his passion for the sea and his desire to innovate, led him to start the activity of a manufacturer of diving equipment. At first it is a few guns, then some mask and a few fins. Then slowly, over time, success becomes first national and then worldwide. Mares has become a very important reality when it comes to underwater fishing, diving and snorkeling products, but all swimming in general.
