Na sicherlich aber dann von der Hustenblume! Der Volksmund hat diesem Kind im Laufe der Zeit noch wesentlich mehr Namen gegeben. Höchstwahrscheinlich aufgrund seiner Vielseitigkeit! Aber all diese Bezeichnungen deuten immer auf ein und dieselbe beeindruckende und vielseitige Pflanze hin: Die Nachtkerze (Oenothera biennis). Die Nachtkerze ist eine Wildpflanze und war ursprünglich in Nordamerika heimisch. Bereits die Stammesmediziner der nordamerikanischen Indianer wussten um die vielfältigen Einsatzmöglichkeiten der Pflanze: Sie nutzten Sie u.a. für die Behandlung von Hautkrankheiten und schmerzhafter Atmungsprobleme. Heute ist sie über den ganzen Kontinent verbreitet und gelangte im 17. Jahrhundert nach Europa. Zunächst als Zierpflanze eingeführt, ist sie schnell ausgewildert und hat sich rasch verbreitet.
