Why does this product not use vanilla extract? Vanilla extract is not a naturally occurring substance. Instead it is created by combining alcohol and vanilla beans. No two vanilla extracts are alike, they use different types of alcohol and beans of different quality and freshness and some will also use solvents to boost the amount of vanilla that is removed from the included pods. What is vanilla bean paste? Vanilla bean paste is a syrupy format for adding natural vanilla bean flavor to baking. The syrupy texture always comes from the sugar or glucose syrup (or other sugar sources) that are a part of it, while the actual vanilla flavor comes either from actual vanilla beans and pods or from vanilla extracts. Madame Loulou French Vanilla Flavoring Paste is made from real vanilla and provides bakers with a natural and cost effective choice for flavoring confectionery items and ice cream bases without having to worry about the presence of alcohol or solvents like propylene glycol that may be in other pastes made from vanilla extract. We add natural food colorings to ensure that our paste doesn't just enhance the taste of your creations but also lends a subtle and attractive color to them as well.
