Sustainable Shaving

In 2021, MÜHLE launched the first safety razor with the needs of all users in mind, regardless of gender. This journey began in 1945.
1945 - Founding

Otto Johannes Müller founds the business having returned from the war. He makes the first shaving brushes and designs the MÜHLE signet.
1965 - New Generation

Hans-Jürgen Müller takes over the company, which has grown to 40 employees. MÜHLE is exporting its products to 36 countries.
1972 - Expropriation

Under pressure from the German Democratic Republic, Hans-Jürgen Müller sells the company and MÜHLE becomes a state-owned enterprise.
1987 - Taking Leave

Now rebranded, the business manufactures brushes only for the state. Hans-Jürgen Müller becomes a self-employed brush maker.
1990 - New Beginning

A new Europe evolves, Hans-Jürgen Müller regains the family business and trades as Hans-Jürgen Müller KG, the MÜHLE signet remains.
1995 - Celebrating 50 Years

MÜHLE struggles to survive after reunification. However, little by little, the company wins new customers and rehires former employees.
2006 - Boom

Dawn of a new Millenia. The offering is expanded to a full range of wet shaving goods. The MÜHLE brand comes to the fore.

How to use:

Moisten brush fibers with warm water and work shaving cream (or soap) into a shaving lather
Massage lather into cheeks, chin and neck using circular motions
When finished shaving, rinse all lather from brush with warm water
Using a shaving stand, hang brush in a downward direction to allow drying

Your choice of razor falls into three types of blade category;

Gillette Mach3 multi-blade razor: The most popular type of razor in the shaving market, comprising of 3 blades in a plastic cartridge and ideal for a good no-frills shave. Each cartridge will yield 4-6 shaves.
Gillette Fusion multi-blade razor: Comprising of 5 blades in a plastic cartridge and a precision trimmer for beard sculpting, Fusion razors offer a closer shave and each cartridge can last for up to 10 shaves.
Double edge safety razor: Favoured by shaving enthusiasts for the closest possible shave and by eco-conscious wet shavers as a plastic-free shaving option. Furthermore, the ongoing costs of shaving with a safety razor is extremely low.

Your shaving brush - the centerpiece of wet shaving

For the most comfortable wet shave, you must first soften your beard using a shaving brush and lather. Your shaving brush works the lather into your skin and prepares beard hair for shaving.

It is important to look after your razor and shaving brush correctly and increase the longevity of your item. After each shave, your razor will need to be rinsed clean in preparation for your next shave. If you use a shaving brush, this will also need to be rinsed thoroughly and hung in an upside-down direction to dry. To achieve this, Mühle offer a range of stylish chrome plated shaving stands. Next, place shaving soap or cream into a bowl or cup and dab your desired amount onto the brush, proceeding to gently work it into a lather on the skin. Use a MÜHLE razor for a clean shave, rinse, and repeat. THE HANDLE: We design all of our products to be long-lasting, and this handle is no exception. The modern and classy handle options include high-grade black resin, citrine resin, olive wood, and bog oak. HANDCRAFTED BRUSH HEAD: Made from fine badger, it is softer than pure badger but somewhat firmer than silvertip badger. Soft and flexible, the brush produces a rich lather for a luxurious massaging effect to prep the hair.
