Slow cooking process, a hand-made tradition from ancient times: more than 3.000 years

Do you know how our Aleppo soap is made

7 barrels of water are poured into a 600-litre mixer
At high heat the diluted soda is added with 4 barrels of spring water
After 10 minutes the olive oil is added, then the laurel oil
The heat reaches 200 degrees for about half an hour
The next day the cooking procedure is repeated, 7 minutes at a time, until the mixture becomes a cream
This cream has to be tasted: a burning on the tip of the tongue indicates an excess of soda
Once the draining process is completed, the mixture rests for 24 hours. Then it is stretched out, cut by hand and stamped; it will then be seasoned 9 months in the eastern sun
