Our buckwheat comes from a small family farm

Buckwheat is mainly harvested in the northern hemisphere.

Our organic buckwheat groats come from a small family farm in Estonia. Did you know, that 22% of Estonian land is organic and 51% of Estonian territory is covered in forest?

Delicious nutty flavour without the burnt taste

Buckwheat groats are the hearty hulled seed of the buckwheat plant. Our gluten free buckwheat groats are made of organically grown buckwheat, which is dried at a temperature below 39 °C and hulled using traditional mechanically operated mills.

As no heat is used throughout the production process, all the organic goodness of raw, organic buckwheat grains is still there.

Raw, all the nutrients are well preserved

The taste of buckwheat products can be described as earthy, with a hint of grassy or nutty.

Buckwheat is rich in trace elements, B vitamins, and amino acids. Raw organic buckwheat groats do not contain any dirty hulls and can be used straight out of the pack.

If LOOV raw buckwheat is light in colour, then why is the buckwheat sold in grocery stores often dark brown?

To discard the hulls, industrial buckwheat producers steam the grains at around 80 °C, until they swell and shed their hulls.

The grains are then dried and separated from the hulls. However, they will become "dead" food within two months – the grains will not sprout, and will only give trace elements and calories to our bodies.

LOOV’s lightly coloured raw buckwheat is “alive” because the grains are hulled in mechanically operated mills.
