MEET HENRY LEVISON

Meet Henry Levison, a color chemist who ran a company called Permanent Pigments which had been milling artists' oil colors since 1933.
THE FIRST ACRYLIC

By 1955, Henry had perfected a commercially viable water-based acrylic, the first acrylic gesso, called Liquitex.
A NEW ERA OF ACRYLICS

In 1956, Henry is at it again, this time launching the world’s first water-based acrylic, Medium Viscosity Artist Color.
INNOVATION

In 1963, Liquitex High Viscosity Artist Color & Gel Medium launches. It is the world’s first heavy bodied, water-based acrylic color.
THE TEST OF TIME

In 1971 we launch the art world’s first acrylic cadmium replacement colors (renamed cadmium ‘Hues’ in 1980), as well as Slow-Dri Medium

Gloss Varnish

As a general rule, you should always varnish your acrylic work when possible. Varnishes are applied over dry paint films and have several purposes. The first and most important function is to protect the painting surface from the environment and protect the pigments from ultraviolet light. Secondly, varnishes can be used to change or unify a painting’s surface sheen. Liquitex BASICS varnishes come in matte and glossy.

As you continue your painting journey, Liquitex has everything you need to expand expand your craft	Surface Preparations are used to seal, prime and add tooth (for color adhesion) to all surfaces such as canvas, wood, paper and metal.	Each color is uniquely formulated to bring out the maximum brilliance and clarity of the individual pigment. BASICS Acrylic Paint is a heavy body acrylic with a 'buttery' consistency for easy blending.	Long-handled, white nylon brushes are durable, easy to clean, and hold ample amounts of color. Medium-soft bristles provide the ideal responsiveness for soft-bodied to medium-bodied acrylics.

BASICS mediums & Varnishes are developed for students and artists that need dependable quality at an economical price. BASICS mediums are mixed with acrylic paint to adjust how the paint works, feels and looks. They can be used to add texture, adjust paint flow, and alter the working properties of the color. Because they include acrylic resin, these mediums maintain or add to the stability of the paint film, and can be used in any amount desired. BASICS Varnishes are permanent and used to protect finished paintings.

ACMI certified. Conforms to ASTM d4236; safe for educational use. Best applied with a large soft brush. Dries to a clear, non-yellowing finish. Gloss varnish may be mixed with matte varnish to vary the finish sheen. Permanent gloss varnish used to protect finished painting.
