La Comandanta is a high impact Mexican company focused on identifying, rescuing and promoting authentic Mexican foods made or harvested by small rural producers under our most traditional Mexican cultivation or culinary methods.

Our interest is to reactivate our traditional Mexican field, preventing our heirloom seeds from extinction, as well as our ancestral cooking and cultivation techniques (the traditional "milpa").

Unfortunately, most of the farmers have stopped harvesting their native seeds for fear that nobody will buy them, or for not knowing how to open up a space in a fairer market, and today many of our heirloom seeds are in risk of getting lost.
