L'Eau d'Issey is a classic name of 90's perfumery and a major commercial success from the Japanese designer Issey Miyake. After so many years of flankers, the brand has decided to launch a reinterpretation of the original scent, updating it in order to suit better the modern tastes. That's how we saw L'Eau d'Issey Pure entering the market in July. This was the work of perfumer Dominique Ropion. The second chapter of the L'Eau d'Issey story is still centered on water. However, this time the aquatic accords are not Calone but another synthetic called Maritima, from IFF, which contributes to the salty feeling. This accord links to the fresh floral bouquet to create a signature contrast. In the base, the skin effect is elongated with a subtle ambergris and another IFF molecule, Cashmeran. In 2017, L'Eau d'Issey Pure will be reintroduced in a new concentration: L'Eau d'Issey Pure Eau de Toilette. Coming in a similar bottle and the same composition as the eau de parfum, this fragrance is lighter and softer due to the different amount of essences. This was the major novelty from the brand, presented at Cannes TFWA. For now that's the only info I can tell and I can even advance the information that there will be a similar strategy within the line of L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme. More news in the near future.
