Our story

How we got our start

Hi, I'm Gary. Gymboss Timers started in 2001 due this one simple thought I had while working out in my home gym – "There must be an easier and more accurate way to time my rest between sets". From this one spontaneous thought came Gymboss, which started very humbly in my basement in Michigan, USA.

What makes our product unique

Our timers are small, durable and versatile. What started as a simple weightlifting timer is now used by people all over the world for run walk run programs, HIIT workouts, interval training, yoga, boxing, and the list goes on. If it is timed exercise, there is a Gymboss model to time it.

The Gymboss Interval Timer and Stopwatch is a small, easy-to-use, dual interval timer. You can time ONE or TWO intervals and repeat them 1-99 times, allowing you to time both your work and rest periods. This is our Classic model timer and the perfect choice for most users.


HIIT & Tabata Gymboss timers are made to keep your HIIT workouts efficient and effective.They can be set for two intervals (2 seconds to 99 minutes), and rounds or repeats up to 99 times. Gymboss timers are perfect for Tabata workouts – set the intervals for 20 seconds and 10 seconds for 8 repeats. Run, bike, row, squat, lunge – pick your favorite – and go as hard as you can for the 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds, and repeat 8 times. This is the ultimate HIIT routine. There are many different routines to do Tabata style, and the Gymboss is the perfect timer to get the job done.	Weightlifting Rest is important when weightlifting. Different rest times yield very different results and providing consistent rest allows you to reach goals and watch your progress. Not timing rest can result in workouts that may run much longer than planned. Use Gymboss to time an exact rest period, such as 60 seconds, or whatever rest time you desire, between every set. Set the rest you desire and the beep and/or vibration of the Gymboss lets you know when your rest is over. Or, set the repeating feature and complete a disciplined workout of 20 sets in 30 minutes with approximately 60 seconds rest between each set, that's a 30 minute workout every time!	MMA and Boxing Gymboss timers allow you to keep your eye on the prize – not the clock. MMA and boxing training programs require discipline to achieve maximum benefits. Many new school trainers follow old school programs of 3-5 minutes of work to 1 minute of rest but also incorporate many short bursts of very high intensity follow by short recovery to mimic actual boxing and MMA fights. Our timers support 90% of training programs with interval timer, countdown timer and stopwatch functionalities.	Crossfit Many Crossfit workouts have time constraints. Gymboss timers offer the functionalities you need no matter the WOD - repeating interval, every minute on the minute, AMRAP, countdown timer and stopwatch.


Running or Run Walk Run If you are a runner who wants to improve your race time or a walker who wants to Learn to Run, you can improve through the use of intervals. Gymboss interval timers are the perfect run walk run timer, or can be used for advanced runners training to develop speed and raise their anaerobic threshold.	Kettlebells Effective kettlebell routines require timing intervals, circuits and duration. The Gymboss timers keep track of different intervals and workout duration whether your routine involves reps followed by rest, timed work intervals followed by timed recovery intervals, or sequenced timed circuits with or without timed rest.	Interval and Circuit Training Get out of your exercise slump with interval training – add short bouts of intensity to your cardio workouts to increase endurance and prevent a plateau. Set your Gymboss intervals for high-intensity and lower-intensity to push beyond your comfort zone. Focus on proper form and reps when you move through a circuit – not the clock. The beep and vibration of the interval timer on the Gymboss interval timers let you know when it is time to move to the next circuit.	Yoga and Stretching Take your yoga practice outside of the studio with your Gymboss timer. Setting the interval timer helps you learn the correct amount of time to hold a pose. Its small vibration will indicate when to changes poses. Timing your poses will help you learn to control your breath as you move through different poses. Stretching is one of the most important parts of any training program. Many people skip it or don't hold stretches long enough. The small vibration of the Gymboss keep you accountable for full stretch sessions before and after workouts. Doing 10 stretches for 30 seconds each only takes 5 minutes – timing it prevents interruptions and distractions so you know you are truly getting the most out of your workout.
