The coarse Guérande salt used to make this smoked salt comes from the Guerande marshes in southern Brittany. The coarse salt is dried, then beech wood is used to slowly smoke it for a few days. Because of the process used, the grains are infused with smoke, giving the salt a strong aroma and delicate flavour reminiscent of recently smoked foods and blending the natural perfume of beech wood with the mild Guérande salt flavour. Add to grilled meat or veggies or use with seafood or marinades. Tradysel is perpetuating the thousand-year-old Guerande salt tradition in South Brittany. By making pure Guérande salt and taking care to preserve both the environment and this distinctive, all-natural product, they continue this tradition. The salt used in Tradysel Guérande is fully handcrafted and is collected every summer day at authentic salt marshes that have been kept in their original state by generations of salt marsh laborers (Paludiers). The harvesting ponds act as the centre of a circuit where salt is concentrated as seawater slowly evaporates.
