We are an independent coffee roaster based in Meltham, Yorkshire UK. We pride ourselves on creating coffee that is meticulously sourced, ethically traded and deliciously grumpy. Oh, and of course, GREAT tasting coffee. To say that Grumpy Mule only cares about coffee is not entirely fair. He, and we, also care about our farmers, our growers and our customers. And other mules. Fighting the blight of bad coffee.

We source fairly and sustainably, making sure that our growers share in our success. We roast with precision and care, making sure that we get the very best flavour from each and every bean that our growers have worked so hard to produce.

These beans are grown straddling Huila and Tolima departments, in the foothills of Colombia's highest volcano, Nevada del Huila. Up in the mountains, here, everything is a little bit darker. They might be washed in the mountain waters and sun dried – but it's too late. That deep flavour is already in. You don't have to sit in a room with the curtains drawn to enjoy it, but dang, why notMight just be the best way to experience how the gentle tang of red fruits and apple cuts through the hazelnut and caramel. INGREDIENTS 100 Arabica Ground Coffee DIRECTIONS Grumpy Mule coffees are suitable for use in a wide range of brewing equipment. For Espresso machines, finely grind your beans or choose espresso grind for best results. Use 2 heaped dessertspoonfuls (those big ones your mum only had out for special occasions) of fresh, ground coffee per cup. If you want to be a nerd about it that's 15g per 250ml of water. Espresso heads, a good double dose for our coffee is 14-18g per double shot with an extraction time of about 27 seconds. Just don't count mississipily (watch friends, it'll make sense). Allow heated water to come off the boil (about 93-95 C) before pouring. It's just enough time to tweet a pic of the pack at a jaunty angle. Serve the coffee immediately once brewed.
