A Naturally Sweet Herbal Tea That's Good for You
Our organic Rooibos blend springs from the mountains of Cederberg in the Western Cape of South Africa. Rooibos "Red Tea" or "Bush Tea" as its often called in the U.S. and abroad, is a naturally non caffeinated herbal tea rich in antioxidants and vitamins. Golden Moon's unique loose-leaf Rooibos tea blend has a deeply satisfying rich earthy or woodsy flavor with smooth hints of toasted caramel and an invigorating essence of black pepper. Because there is no caffeine, Rooibos herbal tea is enjoyed at all times of day, especially in the afternoon or evening due to its calming and soothing down to earth flavor palette.
Unlike traditional black or white teas, the Rooibos tea plant has delicate needle like leaves, rather than flat broad leaves. After being harvested in the high months of Summer and early Fall the leaves are left to oxidize, which is what produces the distinct red coloring and unique earthy flavor and aroma. When prepared this way, each batch has a mild natural sweetness that is simply delicious. Unlike some teas there isn't a bitter aftertaste if the tea has been brewed properly.
Our organic Rooibos has been shown to have up to 50% more antioxidants than traditional green teas, which means many people enjoy it as a healthy zero calorie snack. People who wish to avoid caffeine or avoid it later in the day, love our Rooibos because it's full bodied and more satisfying than a simple glass of water. Pregnant mothers and new mothers enjoy Rooibos as a healthy caffeine free drink.
If you're new to Rooibos teas, they are enjoyed in much the same way as traditional black tea. You can steep them for 5 minutes in boiling or near boiling water and enjoy a hot fresh cuppa. You can add milk and sugar to taste, or you can add a slice of lemon and a dash of honey. They can be served as espressos, lattes, cappuccinos and of course they make a fantastic iced tea.
Each resealable, airtight and waterproof bag contains 181 servings of loose Rooibos tea leaves.
