The Giraffe Bottle line of hands-free drinking bottles is designed for individuals living with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, quadriplegia, ALS, and other physical disabilities. It features an extended straw, or "neck" (you know, like a giraffe) that is designed to make independent hydration a reality for all users. Note: Mixing up the Giraffe Bottle and a real giraffe can have unpredictable results.

Hands-Free Systems
Which "neck" should I get

Each Giraffe Bottle neck is designed for a different application. The standard Tower neck has a small straw, and with its hard outer modular plastic it can be positioned and left in place. This neck is best for individuals with mild to moderate reduced lung function, since the straw is smaller. The Tower XL neck still has the hard outer modular plastic, but the inner straw is much larger. This neck is best for individuals who have full lung function but have limited to no use of their hands. Finally, the Journey neck is as large as the Tower XL, but does not have the outer shell, making it best for individuals with partial paralysis or that are recovering from surgery who have limited use of their hands.

Who we are

Giraffe Bottle is part of Oak Hill Brands. We are a small business located in Illinois, and we specialize in assistive technology for individuals with physical disabilities.

How we started

Oak Hill Brands started selling assistive technology with the ModularHose brand back in 2009, making low cost wheelchair mounting solutions for switches, tablets, phones, AAC devices, and more. The Giraffe Bottle first became available in 2018.

What makes us different

We know it can be a pain to go through insurance to get assistive tech. That's why it's our goal to keep all our products low-cost for users while still making our products high-quality, durable, and specifically designed with the disability community in mind.

Replacement kits

We recommend replacing the drinking tube and bite valve monthly if application involves daily use. We offer the Replacement Drinking Tube / Bite Valve for the Giraffe Bottle Tower XL system in each size. We also offer the Tower XL Starter Kit in each size - which includes the neck assembly, drinking tube, bite valve, and cleaning brush - in case you want an entirely new straw.

How it works

Setting Up

With the bottle lid unscrewed (so you can put your drink in), the flexible neck assembly screws into the lid spout. For ease of use and best results, get as short a neck as possible for your application. An unnecessarily long neck may sag under its own weight depending on the setup.

Bite Valve

One of the Giraffe Bottle's unique features is the inclusion of a bite valve. The bite valve allows you to control the flow, and when you're not taking a drink, liquid won't leak out. If the bite valve isn't necessary for your application then simply remove it - it's that easy!

Three Different "Neck" Types


Tower XL Neck The Tower XL neck is what you're viewing right now, and is designed for individuals with full lung and mouth functioning but who have little to no use of their upper body, such as those living with quadriplegia. It has a black hard outer modular hose that will hold the straw in place however it is positioned, and it utilizes a bite valve, which keeps the liquid in the straw and allows the user to control the flow. Keep in mind that since the bite valve is removable, it can present a choking issue for individuals without full mouth control.	Tower Standard Neck The Tower standard neck is the original Giraffe Bottle neck. It has the same black hard outer modular hose as the Tower XL that will hold the straw in place however it is positioned. However, the straw is smaller than the Tower XL, and it is designed for individuals with mild to moderate reduced lung functioning. Instead of a bite valve, it uses a removable check valve inside the bottle that keeps liquid in the straw after the first sip.	Journey Neck The Journey neck is designed as a less expensive alternative for individuals with limited upper body mobility. The Journey neck does not have the hard outer modular hose, so it is much more flexible. It has a small clothing clip to assist in positioning, and is best for individuals with partial paralysis, amputees, or people who are recovering from surgery and/or are in physical therapy recovering from an injury.

BOTTLE HOLDER SOLD SEPARATELY - Does not include bottle holder; the Giraffe Bottle Aluminum Bottle Holder, which attaches to wheelchairs, desks, and more, is available separately or as part of a different kit. REMOVABLE BITE VALVE - The bite valve allows the user to control the flow of the liquid, so that it won't leak when not in use, and prevents liquid from flowing back into the bottle. Keeping liquid primed and at-the-ready inside the length of the straw makes staying hydrated a breeze. Note that the bite valve is not recommended for small children or users without strong mouth function due to risk of choking. INTERCHANGEABLE AND REPLACEABLE PARTS - Each component is easily replaceable for hygiene and interchangeable for customization. FLEXIBLE AND ADJUSTABLE - Features a 25 inch / 63 cm extra large flexible modular plastic hose, with large drinking tube, best for individuals with full lung functioning and strong suction.
