The Giraffe Bottle line of hands-free drinking bottles is designed for individuals living with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, quadriplegia, ALS, and other physical disabilities. It features an extended straw, or "neck" (you know, like a giraffe) that is designed to make independent hydration a reality for all users. Note: Mixing up the Giraffe Bottle and a real giraffe can have unpredictable results.

Hands-Free Systems
Which "neck" should I get

Each Giraffe Bottle neck is designed for a different application. The standard Tower neck has a small straw, and with its hard outer modular plastic it can be positioned and left in place. This neck is best for individuals with mild to moderate reduced lung function, since the straw is smaller. The Tower XL neck still has the hard outer modular plastic, but the inner straw is much larger. This neck is best for individuals who have full lung function but have limited to no use of their hands. Finally, the Journey neck is as large as the Tower XL, but does not have the outer shell, making it best for individuals with partial paralysis or that are recovering from surgery who have limited use of their hands.

Who we are

Giraffe Bottle is part of Oak Hill Brands. We are a small business located in Illinois, and we specialize in assistive technology for individuals with physical disabilities.

How we started

Oak Hill Brands started selling assistive technology with the ModularHose brand back in 2009, making low cost wheelchair mounting solutions for switches, tablets, phones, AAC devices, and more. The Giraffe Bottle first became available in 2018.

What makes us different

We know it can be a pain to go through insurance to get assistive tech. That's why it's our goal to keep all our products low-cost for users while still making our products high-quality, durable, and specifically designed with the disability community in mind.

Replacement kits

We recommend replacing the drinking tube and check valve monthly with daily use. We offer the Replacement Drinking Tube / Check Valve for the Giraffe Bottle System in each size. We also offer the Giraffe Bottle replacement neck, which should be replaced approximately every 8 months, depending on use.

How it works

Setting Up

With the bottle lid unscrewed (so you can put your drink in), the flexible neck assembly screws into the lid spout. The adjustable bottle holder comes with instructions and a hex tool. Using the tool, adjust the clamp so that it fits onto your wheelchair, bed-frame, or any comparable fixture you would like the bottle holder to be attached.

Check Valve

One of the Giraffe Bottle's unique features is the inclusion of a check valve. With the check valve in place, your drink won't retreat back into the bottle after taking a sip. For those with limited lung function, keeping liquid primed and at-the-ready makes staying hydrated a breeze. If the check valve isn't necessary for your application then simply unscrew the neck, remove the check valve, and it's that easy!

Three Different "Neck" Types


Tower Standard Neck The Tower standard neck is the original Giraffe Bottle neck - it's the one you're viewing right now. It has that black hard outer modular hose that will hold the straw in place however it is positioned, and it utilizes the removable check valve that keeps liquid in the straw after the first sip. The straw is a bit smaller than a normal straw, so it is best for individuals with mild to moderate reduced lung functioning.	Tower XL Neck The Tower XL neck is just like what it sounds - the standard Tower, but bigger. The straw on this neck is as big as the Journey neck, and is designed for individuals with full lung and mouth functioning. Instead of a check valve, it has a bite valve, which also keeps the liquid in the straw and allows the user to control the flow. Keep in mind that since the bite valve is removable, it can present a choking issue for individuals without full mouth control.	Journey Neck The Journey neck is designed as a less expensive alternative for individuals with limited upper body mobility. The Journey neck does not have the hard outer modular hose, so it is much more flexible. It has a small clothing clip to assist in positioning, and is best for individuals with partial paralysis, amputees, or people who are recovering from surgery and/or are in physical therapy recovering from an injury.

REMOVABLE CHECK VALVE - The check valve prevents liquid from flowing back into the bottle. For those with limited lung function, keeping liquid primed and at-the-ready makes staying hydrated a breeze. INTERCHANGEABLE AND REPLACEABLE PARTS - Each component is easily replaceable for hygiene and interchangeable for customization. ATTACHES TO WHEELCHAIR RAILINGS - Included bottle holder with adjustable clamp easily attaches to round tubing on wheelchairs, power chairs, bed railings, desks, and more. The clamp is adjustable between 0.75" and 1.25" - which fits most wheelchair and bed railings. FLEXIBLE AND ADJUSTABLE - Features a 25 inch / 63 cm flexible modular plastic hose and drinking tube. The neck is fully and repeatedly adjustable and will stay in place without springing back.
