Independent Drinking for Everyone

The Giraffe Bottle hydration systems are designed for people with limited upper body mobility, such as those who are recovering from surgery or are living with multiple sclerosis. It features an extended straw, or "neck" (you know, like a giraffe) that is designed to make independent hydration a reality for all users. Note: Mixing up the Giraffe Bottle and a real giraffe can have unpredictable results.

Different Hydration Kits
Which "neck" should I get

Each Giraffe Bottle neck is designed for a different application. The Journey neck features a large drinking tube with a bite valve, making it best for individuals with partial paralysis or those recovering from surgery who have some limited use of their hands. The Tower XL neck is as large as the Journey neck, but also has a hard outer modular plastic shell that allows it to be positioned and left in place. This neck is best for individuals who have full lung function, but have very limited or no use of their hands, like people with quadriplegia. Finally, the standard Tower neck has a smaller straw but the same hard outer modular plastic, making it best for individuals with mild to moderate reduced lung function.

Who we are

Giraffe Bottle is part of Oak Hill Brands. We are a small business located in Illinois, and we specialize in assistive technology for individuals with physical disabilities.

How we started

Oak Hill Brands started selling assistive technology with the ModularHose brand back in 2009, making low cost wheelchair mounting solutions for switches, tablets, phones, AAC devices, and more. The Giraffe Bottle first became available in 2018.

What makes us different

We know it can be a pain to go through insurance to get assistive tech. That's why it's our goal to keep all our products low-cost for users while still making our products high-quality, durable, and specifically designed with the disability community in mind.

Replacement Kits

We recommend replacing the drinking tube and bite valve monthly with daily use. We offer a no-hassle replacement kit that includes drinking tube, the bite valve, and the clothing clip for the Giraffe Bottle Journey system.

How It Works

Setting Up

With the bottle lid unscrewed (so you can put your drink in), insert the drinking tube into the bottle and screw the cap on the tube onto the top of the lid. The included clothing clip can be attached for additional support of the drinking tube.

Bite Valve

One of the Giraffe Bottle's unique features is the inclusion of a bite valve. With the bite valve in place, your drink won't retreat back into the bottle after taking a sip. Keeping liquid primed and at-the-ready makes staying hydrated a breeze. The bite valve also allows you to control the flow, and when you're not taking a drink, liquid won't leak out. If the bite valve isn't necessary for your application then simply remove it - it's that easy!

The Different "Neck" Types


Journey Neck The Journey neck is what you're viewing right now, and is designed for individuals with limited upper body mobility, whether it stems from injury recovery or something like progressive MS. The Journey neck does not have a hard outer modular hose, so it is much more flexible. It has a small clothing clip to assist in positioning. It is best for individuals with full lung and mouth function who live with partial paralysis, are amputees, or people who are recovering from surgery and/or are in physical therapy recovering from an injury.	Tower Standard Neck The Tower standard neck is the original Giraffe Bottle neck. It has a black hard outer modular hose that will hold the straw in place however it is positioned, and it utilizes a removable check valve at the end of the drinking tube inside the bottle that keeps liquid in the straw after the first sip. The straw is smaller than the Journey and Tower XL straw, so it is best for individuals with mild to moderate reduced lung functioning, like those living with ALS or cerebral palsy.	Tower XL Neck The Tower XL neck is just like what it sounds - the standard Tower, but bigger. The straw on this neck is as big as the Journey neck, and is designed for individuals with full lung and mouth functioning but who have little to no use of their upper body, such as those living with quadriplegia. Like the Journey system, it has a bite valve, which keeps the li

REMOVABLE BITE VALVE - The bite valve allows the user to control the flow of the liquid, so that it won't leak when not in use, and prevents liquid from flowing back into the bottle. Keeping liquid primed and at-the-ready inside the length of the straw makes staying hydrated a breeze. Note that the bite valve is not recommended for small children or users without strong mouth function due to risk of choking. INTERCHANGEABLE AND REPLACEABLE PARTS - Each component is easily replaceable for hygiene and interchangeable for customization. AVAILABLE WITH BOTTLE CARRIER OR HOLDER - This variation of the kit comes with the Giraffe Bottle Aluminum Bottle Holder. It has an adjustable clamp that easily attaches to round tubing on wheelchairs, power chairs, bed railings, and more. The clamp is adjustable between 0.75 inches and 1.25 inches - which fits most wheelchair railings. Also available is the Giraffe Bottle Neoprene Bottle Carrier, which can sling over a wheelchair, bed rail, shoulder, and more, for a more on-the-go experience. LARGE FLEXIBLE DRINKING TUBE - Features 47.75 inches / 121 cm of flexible drinking tube - since some of it is inside the bottle, the total length coming out of the cap is about 36 inches / 91 cm. Best for individuals with full lung and mouth function. The tubing does not retain flavor after washing. A small metal clothing clip is included to aid in supporting the drinking tube. STAINLESS STEEL BOTTLE - The 700ml/24oz stainless steel bottle is made from industry-standard 18/8 (304) stainless steel. It is durable, will not rust, and does not retain flavor after being properly washed. It is DOUBLE WALL VACUUM INSULATED, standard for high-end steel bottles and thermoses. This resists condensation and keeps hot drinks hot for up to 10 hours and cold drinks cold for 18+ hours.
