- Newly purchased SSD is blank, so you will need to format them in Disk Management before you can use them. Initial formatting involves locating the volume and creating partitions in Disk Management. After performing the formatting process, our computer will be able to recognize and use it. lt is recommended to format in the windows operating system and use NTFS format.
