Chester K. "Chet" Enstrom began working at Barthel's Confectionary in Colorado Springs in 1919. By day, he worked in their ice cream factory; by night, he worked across the street at a candy factory learning the art of candy making.
In 1929, Chet and his wife Vernie moved to Grand Junction. There, he and his partner Harry Jones opened Jones-Enstrom Ice Cream Company. While ice cream was the focus, they couldn't help but add a little extra sweetness to the selection. While the idea was to initially offer almond toffee as a topping for their ice cream, Chet decided to give it to his friends as gifts.
After 30 years of making ice cream, Chet decided to focus more on toffee and opened Enstrom Candies in 1960. As the decades passed and the company transitioned from one generation to the next, one thing never changed: "Every batch of traditional almond toffee is still made by hand with only the finest, freshest ingredients."
A dedication to rich almond toffee has since expanded to toffee popcorn, decadent truffles, and delicious gourmet chocolates. We couldn't have done it without our friends, so we thank you for your countless years of support and love for Enstrom Candies.
