Water repellent: dispel water from the surface and keep the inside dry. 40D ripstop nylon by EMMA KITES is water repellent, and withstands bursts of short showers, drizzle, spray, and splash to keep the inside dry. It supports quick-dry after soaking. 40D well balances functions and weight, covering all your kite making and daily needs for water repellency.
Windproof/airtight: ideal material for DIY interesting inflatables, windsocks
Lower stretch: fabrics retain in good shapes, avoiding deforms especially after heavy loading, washing, folding

Opaque showing

How the fabric is opaque is largely influenced by the color. Objects behind white fabric are clearly seen while they're not visible behind the colors like black, brown.

Ironing

Iron fabrics to remove wrinkles from being folded when packed and shipped.

Temperature for ironing nylon: <248°F / 120°C

[NOTE] Higher temperature will melt and ruin Nylon fabrics.

Sewing

Being thin and of low stretch, the 40D ripstop nylon easy to sew with.

The fabric is inherently slippery due to the Nylon material and PU coating.

It's recommended to use ball pins, or Painters Tapes, an easy and quick way to hold seams in place.

A: EMMA KITES 40D is water repellent, not rainproof. About Rainproof: the fabric is rainproof when it's able to resist prolonged heavy rain. Usually, you'll notice a rating of Hydrostatic Head(HH) marked on rainproof textiles.

Q: Can this fabric be washed

A: 40D ripstop fabric by emma kites is washable and below are the precautions on cleaning and drying:

Cleaning: Wash the fabric in lukewarm water by hand. To protect a coated fabric, NO DETERGENT should be applied, and gently rub the fabric to remove the soiled.
Drying: Recommended to dry the fabric in a ventilated space and avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
