It can be used to connect your smartphone or any other electronic devices with combined mic/headphone TRRS CTIA jack into a recording microphone that requires a TRS input.
This 1/8 inch TRS male to 1/8 inch TRRS male microphone adapter is designed for recording, live streaming, interviewing, broadcasting.
