Our Story
Hi, and welcome to Drop Support. When you have a family member who suffers from a medical condition that can lead to falls, you tend to avoid leaving the safety and comfort of your home. As was the case with our family. Our sister suffers from Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, which is a rare and severe kind of epilepsy, but also has Atonic and Tonic seizures that lead to falls and potential injuries, and with her medical condition, we restricted our lives to any events or environments with hard surfaces.
Why
Because in the event she would fall, we didn't want a hard surface breaking her fall, if we weren't able to support her fall in time. After so many years of living restricted, we knew we needed to make a change. A change that would impact our lives.
Drop Support's Objective
Our objective is to help reduce physical injuries in individuals of need, while also increasing their quality of life. Whether it's for a special needs child, grandparent, patient, or student. This starts with giving families, caregivers, teachers, and therapist an innovative tool that did not exist, until now. A safer and more controllable way of providing fall support to those you care about & to those you care for.
Drop Support
Drop Support harness is a unique, upper body harness that wraps around the user's waist, shoulders, chest, and torso, with an attached central handle running the length of the torso. The support handle is a point of contact between the user of the harness and the person assisting the user ("assistant"). This is what makes Drop Support unique. The support handle, located on the back, sits vertical, and not horizontal, like a standard gait belt. The vertical handle provides the assistant with a better means of controlling and managing the user's directional motion. The vertical Support Handle isn't the only thing unique about Drop Support. The added support straps over the shoulder's and chest area help the assistant in better managing and stopping forward falls.
A gait belt falls short in this area.
