This lightweight but rigid AFO support/orthosis is designed to assist ambulation for those patients suffering mild to moderate neurological deficit resulting in drop-foot.Fabricated in a predorsiflexed position to provide superior dorsiflexion assist. The anatomically correct shape provides medial-lateral stability and a footplate for more forefoot control. Anatomical design compensates for atrophy and avoids calcaneus irritation. It will fit inside most lace-up shoes. It is fabricated from specially formed orthopedic grade thermoplastic and offers durable long term performance and reliability. For a more comfortable individual fit this orthosis may be custom trimmed and reshaped using cast scissors and a heat gun. The footplate ends before toes and is not designed to support toes.
