With Dr Oetker Preserving Sugar 2:1 you can produce extra fruity and less sweet jams, marmalades and jellies. You need 1,000g of fruit or 900ml of fruit juice for a pack of preserving sugar (500g). It is also possible to use any commercially available juice or nectar (except grape juice) to make a jelly. Dr Oetker preserving sugar 2:1 contains the vegetable gelling agent pectin, which is obtained from apples and citrus fruits. Since the gelling agent and sugar are already mixed, the preparation is particularly quick and easy - ideal for beginners. For 1000g prepared fruit or 900ml fruit juice or 750ml berry fruit juice. Makes about 6 glasses of 200ml each PREPARATION: 1. Wash the fruit, remove the stalks or stones. Weigh 1000g, cut into small pieces or puree. Or measure out 900ml fruit juice or 750ml berry fruit juice. Boil the jars and screw-on lids (twist-off) or rinse with very hot water. 2. Mix the fruit or fruit juice with the preserving sugar in a large saucepan. Bring everything to the boil while stirring and boil for at least 3 minutes until bubbling. Carry out a jelly test*. If necessary, skim the fruit mixture and immediately fill the jars to the brim. Close with lids, invert immediately and leave on lids for about 5 min. TIPS: - *Pour 1-2 teaspoons of the hot mixture onto a plate. If it does not set, continue cooking for 1 min. or, if using sweet fruit, stir in 1 sachet Dr. Oetker citric acid. - If using frozen fruit, defrost it first and use the resulting juice. - The ingredients can be doubled (2kg fruit with 1kg extra preserving sugar) INGREDIENTS Sugar, gelling agent (pectins), acid (citric acid), preservative (sorbic acid).
