I started Dotty Fish in 2006 when I had 2 children under 2. I was given some leather baby shoes for my son, Josh. When I went to buy some more I realised how expensive they were and saw a gap in the market for quality, affordable leather baby shoes. I decided to draw some designs, my shoes arrived and Dotty Fish was born!

Our range has grown to include slippers, sandals and baby booties. As I always say, 'you can never have too many shoes!'
What makes our products unique?

Our UK team design all our shoes and we test our leather to ensure it is safe for little feet. Our shoes are podiatry approved after being tested using sophisticated gait analysis tools.

Help with Choosing the Right Size

We know that getting the right size is important and although our sizes are in months and years babies don't come in one size fits all. To help we have created a printable size guide that your child can stand on which will tell you exactly which size Dotty Fish shoes to choose.

Simply follow these 4 steps to get the most accurate size.

Print out the PDF foot measurement tool and size guide which can be found under our as 'Product Guides and Documents'
Stand your child barefoot on the chart. Your child's heel must be on the dotted line at the bottom of the chart. If your little one isn't standing yet simply put the printed sheet on a hard book and place your child's heel on the dotted line.
Measure both feet, it is normal to have one foot slightly larger than the other. You will need to measure to the top of the big toe and use the largest size foot measurement.
Choose the size you are shown on our guide for the most accurate fit. You don't need to account for room for growth. Dotty Fish shoes have 1cm wiggle room built in.

Leather Testing When Helen started this business all those years ago her son, Josh, was a baby and so he was our first customer. She watched first hand as he toddled about, played with them and used his natural curiosity to put the shoes in his mouth! (Why do babies insist on doing this?!) It was therefore important to know the leather we used was safe. Over the years more and more information has come to light about the harmful chemicals that are used in the making of baby products. We decided to join Eurofins / BLC which is a specialist leather testing facility in the UK. We sample test our leather at source and then we carry out our own sample testing using the European REACH SAFETY regulations at independent labs in the UK. This means that we can say with confidence that our shoes are made from ‘Baby Safe Leather’.	Real World Testing Our shoes are also tested by the true experts – parents and their children. We have a team of lovely brand ambassadors who try out our shoes and give us their honest feedback. They make sure that we have the right size guide and that our shoes fit. They put our claim that Dotty Fish shoes stay on to the test while out and about. Little hands put our shoes on and take them off and give us the stamp of approval that all our stitching keeps everything in its place. Since Josh is now nearly 16 and Dotty Fish shoes have long since stopped fitting him, we just love seeing our shoes on this new generation of little babies and hearing the feedback from happy parents who have come to trust our brand.	First Steps Testing At Dotty Fish we have always believed that babies should wear soft leather shoes that allow feet to move as nature intended and don’t restrict movement. Our shoes have been put through their paces by countless babies and toddlers over the years. We have also worked with the experts at The London Podiatry Centre using their knowledge and technology to review our shoes. The team uses this feedback to make sure our soft, flexible first walking shoes are good for the little feet that wear them. A lightweight shoe like Dotty Fish shoes provides warmth, protection and a little more grip on slippery surfaces but doesn’t stop natural foot development.
