A cold chisel gets its name because it notches, chops, shaves, and grooves cold metals. It is not designed to use on concrete—use a mason's chisels for those applications. It's a demolition workhorse, and in the shop it'll shear metal rod, chop apart rivets, and split nuts.

A cold chisel will cut any metal that is softer than the material from which the chisel itself is made. The Dasco Pro 44 cold chisel kit is made of hardened steel. As with most cold chisels all three have a beveled cutting edge and an octagon-shaped handle. It can also be used to cut sheet metal.
