Efficacy

The CYD drink spiking test will detect GHB and Ketamine. Each test has been tested using a large range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to check for false positives.

Clinical trials were carried out by the Clinical Trials Laboratory Services (CTLS) and Homerton University Hospital in 2013. All tests and procedures were performed according to the Standard Operating Procedures of CTLS.

CYD can be used with a range of different drinks wherever you are. Performing the test couldn't be easier, with only a test strip and two drops of drink required. Can I get a false positive or negative result

There are some drinks that influence the sensitivity of the test and should not be used.

False Negative:

The sensitivity of ketamine detection is reduced by red wine. It is possible that ketamine could be present but may not give a positive when testing with red wine.

GHB is UNDETECTABLE in very acidic drinks such as bitter lemon and lime cordial. The drink spiking test should therefore not be used with such drinks as it could potentially give a false negative result.

False Positive:

Red wine and blackcurrant-based cocktails can stain the test patches leading to a false reaction.

Milk based drinks, such as milk and baileys will always give a positive GHB test result (even when there is none present) and should therefore not be used with this test.
